Hezekiah's Tunnels

5/27/12
Hezekiah's Tunnel is by far one of our favorite Family spots. It is a cool and refreshing break from the heat of Jerusalem and the kids had a blast splashing through the water.

Going down to the entrance of the tunnel.

The entrance of the tunnel. Michael freaked out when the cold water hit him but soon he relaxed and really enjoyed the tunnel.

Lora and Tim shared this experience with us. I am so glad that we got to be there with them.

The tunnel can make you hunch over and feel completely trapped in some spots and then open up to where you can barely see the top.

Standing out side at the end of the Tunnel by the pool of Siloam, with my Sister!

The kids had fun sitting on these stone stumps or columns or whatever they are.

The Dead Sea

5/23/12
Yes Olivia is screaming it turns out that The Dead Sea burns any where the skin is a little tender. Which unfortunately for Olivia was her girl parts. Ouch!

The boys really seemed to like it that is until Michael touched his face. Yousers! It hurts there to, makes your lips feel like they are on fire.

Lora and Tim really seemed to like it.

Lora even did a mud treatment that some women had leftover.

Masada

Masada
In the final accords of the first Jewish-Roman war, the Siege of Masada by troops of the Roman Empire led to the mass suicide of the Sicarii rebels.

The Long walk up. Jonathan was so tuff and decided that he could do the 45 min hike with Dad and Uncle Tim. He made it but sort of regretted it. It was HOT that day!

The easy hike up :) Well worth the tram fee.

The bath houses, there are so many bath houses at Masada.

Capernaum

5/22/12
Capernaum! The city where Peter, Andrew, James, and John lived.
And where Jesus lived as reported in Matthew 4:13

The Statue of Peter, the plaque reads....

"Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church"

The supposed house where the paralytic man was lowered from the roof to be healed of Jesus.

My good looking boys in front of what used to be homes in Capernaum.

The Synagogue where Jesus cast an evil spirit out of a man.
Mark 1:21-27

21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and ataught.
22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had aauthority, and not as the bscribes.
23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an auncleanspirit; and he cried out,
24 Saying, Let us alone; awhat have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the bHoly One of God.
25 And Jesus arebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26 And when the unclean spirit had atorn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrineis this? for with aauthority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

Cooling down under the beautiful grove of trees.

Olivia found her name carved into a tree in Capernaum.

The Beatitudes

5/22/12
The Beatitudes
"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessedare they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake" (Matt 5:3-11 KJV).

Sea of Galilee

5/22/12
This was one of the wonderful trips that we did while my sister and her husband were here. We took a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee.

Tristan didn't want to sit still he was working          They even caught a fish with a net to
on his Sea legs!                                            give us the Fishermen's perspective.

They raised the American flag when they found out that
that is where we are from.
